Living in Morocco

Morocco offers a balanced money picture, with pay and costs both landing mid-range and a typical life leaving a solid, if unspectacular, margin behind. The real gate is language. English reaches only into certain corners of work, and without French or Arabic a great deal stays closed to you. Tourism and energy are where outsiders most often find a way in, though it remains a place that asks you to meet it partway before it opens up.

Morocco is one of the world's great sending countries, with a diaspora of 3.6M — the 23rd-largest in the world and third in Africa — that grew 25% over the past decade. Those emigrants cluster in Western Europe, split almost evenly between Spain and France (1.1M each), with Italy next.
