What we collect
Migranto collects only the information necessary to operate the service. When you visit the site, we create a pseudonymous session identifier so that votes, survey answers, or feedback can be associated with your session, along with an approximate location derived from your IP address, including country, city, and time zone. If you use one of the calculators, we store the monthly pay, spending, field of work, and country you entered. When you write a matching criterion, we store the words you wrote, the language and the level they apply to, and the scale and scores our AI built from them. Criteria we decline are stored too, together with the reason, so we can see what the feature is missing. If you voluntarily submit an email address, we store it. You don't need an account, a name, a physical address, or payment information to use the service. If you create an account, we store your email address and, when you sign in with Google, the name your Google account shares with us. If you chat with Migo, our AI assistant, the messages you send and the replies you receive are stored, linked to the same pseudonymous session. Please don't include sensitive personal details in chat messages, and keep them out of criteria as well, because unlike a chat message a criterion is reused for everyone who describes the same thing.
Your account
An account is optional: everything on Migranto works without one. You sign in with Google or with a one-time code we send to your email, and there is no password. When you sign in, what you did in this browser before, including your criteria, favorites, matchings and conversations with Migo, moves into your account. Your favorites and the matching you are working on are then kept in our database as well, so they are there on every device you sign in on. Signing out removes them from the browser and keeps them in your account. To delete your account and everything linked to it, write to us at the address in the Contact section.
Why we collect it
We use this information to operate the product: to remember your activity between visits, respond to questions, and prioritize future features. Figures entered into the calculators are also aggregated across users so we can build our own reference data on typical pay and spending by country and field of work. Criteria and the scores built from them are kept as a shared library, so when someone describes what you already described, they get the criterion you triggered instead of waiting for a new one.
Analytics
Our analytics are privacy-first and cookieless, so no cookie-consent banner is needed. We use Umami, hosted in the European Union, which records aggregated, anonymized usage — page views, referring sites, and broad device and country information — without cookies, without storing IP addresses, and without collecting personally identifiable information. We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to measure aggregate page views and page performance. None of these tools track you across other websites.
Third-party services
Your data is stored in Supabase, which acts as our data processor. The site runs on Vercel, which handles requests and reads browser signals to tell automated traffic from real visitors. Aggregated analytics and performance metrics are processed by Umami (on servers in the European Union) and Vercel. If you sign in with Google, Google confirms who you are and shares your name and email address with us. We use them only to create your account and sign you in, and we don't share them with anyone. Migranto's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Sign-in codes are delivered by our email provider, which receives only your address and the message. Beyond these providers, your data is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties. Messages you send to Migo and the criteria you write for matching are processed by external AI model providers, solely to generate the reply or to build the scale and score places against it. They are not used to train AI models.
Retention
We keep data only for as long as necessary to operate the service. Aggregated and anonymized product feedback and calculator inputs may be retained for analytical purposes. Email addresses and identifiable records are deleted on request. Account data, including your email address, favorites and saved matchings, is kept while your account exists and deleted on request. Chat conversations with Migo are kept while we operate and improve the assistant and are deleted on request. Criteria and the scores built from them are kept for as long as the feature runs, because other people rely on them. On request we unlink a criterion from your session, and the criterion itself stays in the shared library.
Legal basis
We process data based on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the service and, where required, your consent.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of data associated with your session, your account, or your email address. We aim to respond within seven days.
